Having problems with unlocking your Tesla? Don’t want to dig your phone out of your purse to simply unlock it? We are going to share some tips and tricks for unlocking your Tesla with ease. We want you to avoid the annoyance of having to dig out your cellphone or Tesla key to simply unlock your vehicle.
There are many factors that can contribute to your vehicle not unlocking when you are near it with your cellphone. We are going to help you troubleshoot what could be contributing to this issue:
- The unlocking of your Tesla happens via Bluetooth. If your phone has something blocking or dampening the signal, it will reduce the range. If you have a thick phone case or an RFID-blocking phone case this will affect your phone being ability to unlock your Tesla. The same goes for having an RFID-blocking purse and putting your phone in it.
- If it does take a few seconds then works, your Telsa’s Bluetooth was “asleep.”
- Keep the Telsa app running in the background this will help to improve connectivity.
- If your phone is in a pocket or purse we recommend facing your phone to the door. As silly as it may sound you may have to turn around and face your backside to the door or your purse to the door. This will help the vehicle to connect to your phone and unlock it.
- We recommend downloading the Tessie app for your smartwatch, some Telsa owners say this will help to improve the ease of access to your vehicle. The app is available in the apple app store and google play store.
- Make sure your iPhone settings for the Tesla App is set to “always” for location.
- Check the Tesla app and make sure it is updated and your phone is updated as well. If you are still having issues, we recommend uninstalling the app and reinstalling it.
- Another tip is to unpair the phone/car on both the phone and the car, then repair both together. This should help fix this issue.
- Take your phone out when approaching the car.
- Make sure the Bluetooth on your phone is on.
We hope these tips help to improve your experience with your Tesla, some of these tips have been shown to help other drivers with connectivity issues between their phone and car.
