As the seasons change over, the trees are changing as well. Typical tree sap flows in spring and early summer. Once you spot tree sap on your vehicle you want to remove it right away because it can get through the vehicle’s clear coat and eat away at it. Below are three methods for removing tree sap from your vehicle.
1. Rubbing Alcohol Method:
Soak a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol. Then hold it on the sap spot for about one minute so it soaks into the sap. After that wipe the tree sap away. Note: if you do not have to rubbing alcohol handy, you can always use hand sanitizer. Just squeeze some on the top of the tree sap and let it soak, then wipe away.
2. Plastic Razor Blade Method:
If the rubbing alcohol method doesn’t work, try loosening up the sap with a plastic razor blade. This is only if the tree sap has been sitting on your vehicle for a long time.
3. WD-40 Method:
If you do not have rubbing alcohol available at home and you have WD-40 handy, try this method out. Just spray WD-40 directly and let it sit for a while, it should then soften up right away. After the tree sap has softened up wipe it off your vehicle.
To help avoid getting tree sap on your vehicle, we recommend not parking underneath a tree; but that is sometimes unavoidable, especially if the only parking spot is surrounded by trees.
